The Center operates an outstanding system of trails for cross country skiing. Owners can ski 15 kilometers of machine groomed trails, from open meadow trails to rolling loops through the Aspen trees. Four kilometers of the trail are rated easiest, seven are rated more difficult, and four are rated most difficult. The Nordic center is the perfect place for the entire family to have a great day of skiing, snowshoeing, picnicking and picture taking. Trails are groomed weekly. Membership in ARTEC includes unlimited skiing at the Red Lodge Nordic Center from December to March weather permitting.
Red Lodge is as fun in the winter as it is in the summer. Downhill skiing and snowboarding are just up the mountain and cross-country trails abound. Other cross-country opportunities include various Forest Service trails and the West Fork Road.
For the only groomed trails in the area, check out Red Lodge Nordic Center on the Aspen Ridge Ranch property. Over 15K of trails are laid out to take advantage of the inspiring views and easy-going nature of the terrain. This is a great place for families to get out and have some affordable fun.
Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are both great ways to enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature. Whether you like to take it slow and tour along the trails, if you enjoy a good, steady climb so you can enjoy the big WHEEEEEEEEEEE that comes on the way down. Or if you like the aerobic workout you can get from skate-skiing, you can easily find a ski trail to fit your ability level.
Children's programs and ski clinics are offered throughout the season. Touring skiers might want to kick it up a notch and learn skate skiing, a great exercise to maintain your fitness level all year long. The prepared tracks allow you to go as fast as your athleticism allows.
When the moon is full, groups gather for moonlight skiing. Crisp winter nights offer a great excuse to get together with friends, have dinner, get a thermos of cocoa and hit the trails. The full moon reflects the brightness of the snow, so its almost like skiing in the daylight.
